Steffi, Erika and Aurora Halal are among the guests for the month-long DAPHNE: A Women's Movement In Dance Music.
Smart Bar is arranging a month-long events program focused on women artists called DAPHNE: A Women's Movement In Dance Music in March.
The series—its name is a reference to Daphne, a figure in Greek mythology, as well as electronic music innovator Daphne Oram—will serve as a celebration of Women's History Month, and the club has "a month full of reminders that women always have been and always will be central to dance and electronic music culture" in store. It'll feature a range of national and international talent, along with some local favorites. Regular Smart Bar nights like Planet Chicago, Oktave, Hugo Ball and Queen! will be involved.
Honey Dijon will headline on Friday, March 6th, and Steffi is due to swing through town for a set on Saturday the 7th. Erika and Aurora Halal are also confirmed as headliners for the next weekend, with their respective label-mates, BMG (Interdimensional Transmissions) and Ital (Lovers Rock) appearing as well. (Jarvi is also on the bill for that Planet Chicago event with Erika and BMG.) Rebekah, Annie Hall and DJ Shiva make up the lineup for Oktave on Saturday the 20th, and the club's talent buyer The Black Madonna will spin at the following night's Hugo Ball session.
DAPHNE will also involve free workshops at the club, discussing topics like DJ mechanics and hardware. So far, one has been announced on the 13th, at 8 PM, with Erika, The Black Madonna, Sassmouth and Samone. More events, including Queen! nights, are still in the works, but the finale has already been planned: an evening with Superjane—AKA DJ Colette, DJ Heather, DJ Lady D and Dayhota—on Friday the 27th.
Tickets to most Smart Bar events are available on RA.
