Matthew Herbert, Squarepusher and Trevor Jackson have been announced for this year's winter festivities.
The first lineup details for Vivid Sydney 2015 have been announced.
Each year the 18-day winter festival lights up the harbour city with a vibrant array of colour and music, illuminating the Sydney Opera House sails and the surrounding area with striking visuals. This year's edition runs from May 22nd through June 8th. Organisers announced Morrissey as the headline act for 2015 last month and have today added artists like Surfjan Stevens, TV On The Radio, The KLF drummer Bill Drummond and Hoodoo Gurus onto this year's bill.
The opening night of the festival, May 22nd, will be marked by two electronic gigs: Squarepusher will play in the Opera House's Joan Sutherland Theatre, while the Red Bull Music Academy will be holding a free party down in The Studio with Onra, Dreems and Suit Et Sui. The Studio will, as usual, play host to a number of dance gigs throughout Vivid 2015: Mad Racket will be inviting Matthew Herbert back on May 23rd; Goodgod and The House of Mince will team up on the 29th with a voguing night of ballroom with Zanzibar Chanel; and Astral People have enlisted Chicago heads Robert Owens and Amir Alexander for their show on the 30th. Future Classic will also be showcasing on the Opera House's outdoor northern peninsula on May 29th and 30th, celebrating their tenth anniversary with Flume, Flight Facilities and Seekae.
A number of events will be happening away from Circular Quay as well, with the Oxford Art Factory, Goodgod Small Club and Freda's among the venues presenting their own Vivid 2015 programmes. Modular will take over Carriageworks in Redfern once again for a series of shows including a collaboration between Sydney promoters Motorik, Club Kooky and Pelvis on June 7th which features Trevor Jackson and Daniel Wang playing across three rooms. Local disco crew Soul Of Sydney will host one of their Sunday block parties on May 24th at a location TBA, while Heaps Gay will spend June 7th at Factory Theatre with KIM, Black Vanilla TEES and a dozen more acts playing out the afternoon.
