Sunday Best returns to the Gowanus Canal

- Brooklyn's electronic day party is set to continue at its usual outdoor venue this weekend.
- Despite last week's sudden announcement of the BKLYN Yard's demise, weekly house and techno party Sunday Best plans to carry on at its usual spot by the Gowanus canal. Promoters and resident DJs Justin Carter, Eamon Harkin and Doug Singer sent out the following message earlier today: "We are beyond happy to announce that we are taking a stab at bringing Sunday Best back to the very tree-specked, canal-side lot at 400 Carroll Street where we started this season and spent the past two years...the food vendors are prepping, and the disco ball will be spinning under the trees." There will be at least one significant change: no alcohol will be served at the site this weekend, and promoters implore attendees not to bring their own ("please, please, please leave it at home, as the rest of our season depends on it.") That aside, this Sunday's party with Dâm-Funk is set to go ahead as planned. Meanwhile, the folks behind Sunday Best have also announced the summer lineup for their other party series, Mister Saturday Night. Beginning with this weekend's outdoor soiree featuring Rick Wade, they'll bring a steady stream of house, techno and disco DJs to various venues around the city this summer, including Tevo Howard, DJ Harvey, Chez Damier, Theo Parrish and Junior Boys.
