- The electronic veteran will self-release an album and photography book in May.
Moby's next album is called Destroyed, and will come out this May through Mute and his own label, Little Idiot.
According to a press release, Destroyed examines the bizarre lifestyle of a touring artist. It was mostly written late at night during Moby's travels around the world, and tries to express the emotional state of being constantly in transit. In addition to 15 new tracks, it comes with a 128-page book of photos Moby took on his travels, which capture the odd spaces artists inhabit on the road: airports, hotel rooms, backstage waiting areas, etc. "One of my goals through my pictures is to take the normal and present it as odd and to take the odd and present it as normal," he says. This is exemplified in the album's cover photo, which shows the tail end of a security message Moby spotted at La Guardia that read "Unattended luggage will be destroyed."
The record comes two years after Moby's last album, Wait for Me, and more than a decade after his breakthrough full-length Play, which remains one of the best-selling electronic albums of all time.
