- The two-disc charity compilation features new tracks from Donato Dozzy, Donnacha Costello, Cobblestone Jazz and more.
Mindgames, the team behind Japan's Labyrinth festival, have curated a charity compilation called Composure: Ambient Techno for Japan.
The album features two discs of "experimental techno" and "deep ambient" by many of the mountainside festival's past performers, such as Donato Dozzy, Peter Van Hoesen, Donnacha Costello and DeepChord (who appear separately as Rod Modell and CV313). All of the tracks are previously unreleased, and aside from two edits by Sandwell District's Function and Mike Parker, have been commissioned specifically for this album. Proceeds will go to Smiles & Dreams: The Tohoku Kids Project, a program aimed at giving both immediate and long term support to children who lost their parents in the earthquake. "We know that our contribution will be a modest one," say the curators, "but we also feel it is important to express our concern for everyone affected, and music is the avenue of expression that we as a group have chosen."
Composure is a team effort between Mindgames and Disk Union, the Tokyo record shop, who will release the album on their in-house label, Music 4 Your Legs.
