- The Jamaican rhythm section will release an album on Groove Attack in March.
Sly & Robbie will release an album called Blackwood Dub on Groove Attack in March.
Drummer Sly Dunbar and bassist Robbie Shakespeare came together as a rhythm section and production team in the mid-'70s. Their partnership is a prolific one: Speculation has it that their names have appeared together on approximately 200,000 tracks. They've released more up-tempo dancehall albums in recent years, but Sly & Robbie return to their slower dub and reggae roots for Blackwood Dub. Guitarist Mikey "Mao" Chung and percussionist Uziah "Sticky" Thompson rejoin forces with the pair for the first time since the '80s when they were all session musicians in the Compass Point All Stars. Together they took to the iconic Harry J Studio to record Blackwood Dub, where Bob Marley & The Wailers recorded the majority of their LPs during the '70s.
