- The Kompakt head's first album in eight years will be released this October.
Mantasy is the second full-length from Cologne DJ and producer Michael Mayer.
An accompanying press release for the album intriguingly reveals that Mayer's previous full-length, Touch, was put together in a number of weeks—"and frankly, you can hear that," says Mayer. The Kompakt boss goes on to say that he is therefore treating Mantasy as "really the first one." Aside from a stable stream of remixes, Mayer has been all but silent on the original productions front since 2007's SuperMayer full-length alongside Superpitcher. It's no surprise then that Mantasy comprises ten unreleased tracks. Regarding the sound of the album Mayer says that "Mantasy clearly reflects the gazillions of sounds I'm listening to in private, especially my love for soundtracks or soundtrack-like music."
In a separate piece of Kompakt news, the label has announced that there will be no Total compilation this year. The reason? Triskaidekaphobia, or fear of the number 13. They will instead be focussing their energies on next year's 20th anniversary celebrations.
