- The Motech sister label will centre largely around hip-hop and "leftfield" material.
DJ 3000 has announced the first release for his new label Meze, due out in February.
Meze will be an offshoot of Motech, the techno and house imprint that Franki Juncaj has run out of Detroit since 2002. Juncaj will manage the Meze in partnership with Chicago-based producer I.D, and he describes the new label as a home for "hip-hop, electronica [and] leftfield" music that wouldn't necessarily fit on the more dance-centric Motech imprint. Miami producer producer Deviant will have the first release with his Million Dollar Bombs LP, which is a collection of instrumental hip-hop or "hoodlectro," on February 18th. The second release will follow in March, an EP by co-founder I.D.
