Traxx and Beau Wanzer will team up for a pair of live performances in San Francisco and LA next weekend.
Mutant Beat Dance will head to California next weekend for two live shows.
Mutant Beat Dance is the Chicago duo of Traxx (AKA Nation label head Melvin Oliphant) and Beau Wanzer. They specialize in a gritty, lo-fi style called jakbeat, and their records have appeared on a handful of labels including L.I.E.S. and Rong Music. (RA's Philip Sherburne reviewed the Rong Music EP last year.) According to a post on Facebook, in California they'll play special one-off live sets comprised entirely of unreleased material.
Next Friday, Mutant Beat Dance will spend a night with No Way Back at Monarch in San Francisco. That party's program includes 100% Silk artist Magic Touch, also playing live, and Tyrel Williams, a former Chicagoan now based in the Bay Area. Then, next Saturday night, the duo will head to Los Angeles to play the second edition of Mount Analog's Nuit Noire series. JTC (AKA the prolific Michigan artist Tadd Mullinix) and Silent Servant are also confirmed, with two more live sets coming from White Car and Profligate.
Tickets to both No Way Back and Nuit Noire II are available here on RA.
