The monthly event at Smart Bar will host Steve Summers' local debut next Saturday, before bringing Mike Servito to town in July.
Steve Summers, AKA Jason Letkiewicz, will debut in Chicago next Saturday with a live set for Hugo Ball at Smart Bar.
These days Steve Summers is perhaps the most prominent of the Brooklyn-based artist's aliases. You might also know him as Alan Hurst and Rhythm Based Lovers (among other names), but it's with the Steve Summers moniker that Letkiewicz has been turning the most heads, with appearances on L.I.E.S. and a well-received collaborative EP with Bookworms back in February that started his new label Confused House. His raw, lo-fi style, which RA explored with a Machine Love feature a few months ago, should fit right in at Hugo Ball, the vinyl and analog-centric party at Smart Bar whose previous guests include Carlos Souffront and Innerspace Halflife as well as Letkiewicz affiliates Ron Morelli and Bookworms. He'll be performing an all-hardware set, as usual, and sets on the decks will come from residents Justin Long and Sevron.
Hugo Ball has announced the guest for next month's event, who also happens to call Brooklyn home: Mike Servito, a resident at The Bunker. That one will take place on Saturday the 20th, with Long (who'll be celebrating his birthday) and fellow Hugo Ball selector Nathan Drew Larsen also on hand to DJ.
