- In The Dark: Detroit Is Back follows the Chicago label's first chronicle of the city back in 2005.
Jerome Derradji's Still Music will release a follow-up to 2005's In The Dark: The Soul Of Detroit on October 29th.
That first compilation (which was re-released last year) chronicled the contemporary Detroit beatdown scene ("somewhere between Detroit techno, house and soul" according to the label), with tracks from artists like Marcellus Pittman and Rick Wilhite showing that the scene was still strong. Now, eight years later, Still Music is releasing another In The Dark collection, this time subtitled Detroit Is Back. Described as "a journey through Detroit's basement clubs, studios and warehouses," it's a look at the more soulful end of the city's musical spectrum. Pittmann and Wilhite return, as do Amp Fiddler, Delano Smith and Keith Worthy, and this time Terrence Dixon, DJ 3000, Reggie Dokes and Craig Huckaby (brother to Mike) all join the fold as well.
