Unsure where to spend Capodanno 2013? We lend a helping hand.
It's a known truth that Italians go mad for dance music. Whether it be ear-splitting techno or sensuous deep house, there are pockets of activity up and down the country. 2013's New Year's round-up reflects that diversity.
Starting in Rome, New Year's Eve celebrations will be mainly geared towards two large-scale events: Palazzo dei Congressi featuring Paul Kalkbrenner, Seth Troxler and Maceo Plex and Amore Music Experience at Nuova Fiera Di Roma. The latter will bring together a slew of high-profile names across 12 hours, including Sven Väth, Marcel Dettmann, Ricardo Villalobos, Jon Hopkins, Ben Klock and Function.
Klock and Dettmann have also been booked for appearances at Tenax in Florence, with Chris Liebing's CLR imprint hosting the city's other big celebration at Obihall. Over in Terracina, roughly 90 minutes south of Rome, Redshape and Raffaele Antasio will perform for Evoluzione, while on the opposite coast in Pescara, deep houser Sven Weisemann headlines Tipografia.
In the north, dominant superclub Cocorico will stick by its heavyweight formula, inviting Loco Dice and Chris Liebing to man the 12-hour celebration. Showroom, located on the outskirts of Padua, is keeping to an all-female theme, inviting Nina Kraviz, Magda, Janina and Bloody Mary to spin, while two US legends will perform in Bologna and Verona respectively: Jeff Mills at Link and Fred P at Suburban.
In Milan, you could either go for the Minus-heavy bash at East End Studios Milano, where Richie Hawtin, Gaiser and Hobo will all appear, or head to Dude Club if you like your techno a little rougher round the edges: Rødhåd, Samuel Kerridge and Sigha have all been confirmed. Down south, Davide Squillace heads up the pick of the parties, taking over Mob Discotheatre in Villagrazia di Carini, Palermo.
