- Konstellaatio will see release through Sähkö next year.
Mika Vainio will return to his Ø alias for a new album called Konstellaatio.
The Finnish artist (who moonlights as one half of Pan Sonic) is nothing if not prolific—this Ø LP follows two full-lengths under his own name in 2013, the Joachim Nordwall collaboration Monstrance and Kilo on Blast First Petite. For Konstellaatio he'll return to his own Finnish experimental outpost Sähkö, the label home to most of his previous Ø releases dating back to the mid-'90s. He's often used the alias to explore ambient techno focused on atmospherics and splintered beats, which the press release calls "crossing off borders between techno and private spaces." The cryptic writeup also includes the warning: "I no longer know which genre this music belongs to." The record will come in digital format on January 13th, with CD and double-LP following on March 3rd.
