- The experimental Berlin label has also lined up releases from Ena and Theme this spring.
Samurai Horo will release three new EPs in March and April.
Horo is the experimental arm of Berlin drum & bass label Samurai Music, which we profiled in a feature back in 2012. So far, the vinyl-only imprint has invited producers like ASC, Fis and Indigo to make music outside their comfort zone, and last year it dropped the massive Scope compilation, expanding its roster further.
Though Scope was originally meant to be the label's swansong, "lots of people outside the normal drum & bass circles began discovering the series," founder Geoff Wright (AKA Presha) told RA. Eventually UK techno duo AnD started sending over tracks, two of which inspired Wright to keep going with the series. The AnD material, which he describes as "a sonic welding of genres... tunes [that] actually feel like techno and not drum & bass, but mix with 170," will come out on the 11th Horo release, which is due on March 17th. Horo 12, from Japanese producer Ena (who appeared on Scope)), will drop the week before, followed by an EP from Theme—reportedly the work of an established artist under a new name—on March 24th.
Check out AnD's recent RA podcast here, and a mix by Ena here.
