- Flying Lotus and Herbie Hancock worked on the virtuosic bassist's new record, out next week.
Thundercat will release The Beyond / Where the Giants Roam next week via Brainfeeder.
The mini-LP is the follow-up to his 2013 full-length effort, Apocalypse, but in the years since, the LA musician born Stephen Bruner's profile has increased considerably. He made extensive contributions to Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly as well as fellow Brainfeeder artist Kamasi Washington's well-received recent LP, The Epic.
The label says "The Beyond / Where the Giants Roam takes listeners on six spiraling excursions to the outer limits of jazz-funk." Herbie Hancock, who also appeared on last year's Flying Lotus album You're Dead appears on Thundercat's "“Lone Wolf & Cub." The record also features label-mates Kamasi Washington, Mono/Poly, Miguel Atwood Ferguson and boss man Flying Lotus, who handled production duties on three of the tracks.
