- The new album, out in April, sees Stott again collaborating with vocalist Alison Skidmore.
We now have full info on Andy Stott's new LP, Too Many Voices.
The album was teased earlier this week with the first single, "Butterflies." Now we have the rest of the info—Too Many Voices will come out on April 22nd, via Stott's long-time home Modern Love. It's his fourth full-length, following up Faith In Strangers, which was our favourite album of 2014.
The label says this one is influenced as much by fourth-world music like Yellow Magic Orchestra (and member Ryuichi Sakamoto) as it is modern grime, also referencing classic 4AD material like This Mortal Coil and Dead Can Dance. "It's a vision of the future as was once imagined: artificial, strange and immaculate. Full of possibilities," according to the label.
Too Many Voices also features a handful of collaborations from Alison Skidmore, the vocalist Stott has been working with regularly since 2012's Luxury Problems.
Listen to "Butterflies" below.
