- The long-time producer's new record is out in September on Shitkatapult.
Cristian Vogel will release The Assistenz via Shitkatapult on September 2nd.
The press release, penned by dance music journalist Joe Muggs, says the full-length "is the culmination of a four-year creative hot streak as vivid as any part of Cristian Vogel's long career." Vogel's latest missive fits in a piece with 2012's Inertials and 2014's Polyphonic Beings as well as his more abstract 2013 effort, Eselsbrücke.
Muggs describes The Assistenz variously as "a personal document, a tribute to Copenhagen where it was recorded," and an effort to build classic styles such as dub, electro, acid and funk from the ground up using the Kyma programming platform. He says The Assistenz deals with synthesis, algorithmic process and the sheer pleasure of bodily response to sound "in ways that are beautiful, troubling, moving and scary, and which even make you want to dance." The album follows an extensive remastering and reissue campaign of Vogel's classic '90s records as well as experimental work for UK cassette label The Tapeworm.
