Ricardo Villalobos, The Orb tapped for Prins Thomas remix album

- The Norwegian artist will also kick off a tour of Europe and the US starting next week.
- A collection of remixes from Prins Thomas' album Principe Del Norte will land on Smalltown Supersound in October. Cosmic disco producer Thomas Moen Hermansen released his largely ambient fourth album, Principe Del Norte, in February. The LP, which is influenced by '90s electronica and ambient-house acts like Black Dog and The Orb, earned high marks from RA reviewer Derek Miller. Now six months after that release, the label returns to the project with an album of remixes from some big-name contributors. Ricardo Villalobos, The Orb and Hieroglyphic Being all offer two different interpretations of one track each. LA psychonaut Sun Araw also takes a swing, as do Gerd Janson and Young Marco. Hermansen himself contributes a "diskomiks" of one of his own tracks, as well as three new originals. He'll head out on tour next week for a three-month trip around Europe and the US which coincides with the release. It begins next Friday at the Oasis Festival in Marrakech, then heads through Zurich, Rome and Berlin, ending up at ADE in Amsterdam on October 20th. Then it's Bristol and Bari, Italy followed by Madrid, London (for Oval Space on November 11th) and one more stop in Amsterdam. Next is five US gigs: Miami, Chicago (for Smart Bar on December 2nd), New York City, LA and San Francisco, where he'll wrap the tour with a stop at Public Works on December 10th.
