- Timber Remixed also features Tim Hecker and Squarepusher.
Michael Gordon's 2009 piece "Timber" is the subject of a new remix album due out in October.
As Stereogum reports, the 2009 album Timber was a five-part composition for a wooden percussive instrument called the simantra, meant to be played by six people. The double CD Timber Remixed features 12 wide-ranging reworks on one disc, and a live recording from the Mantra Percussion ensemble on the other. Among the remixers are experimental luminaries like Fennesz, Tim Hecker and Oneohtrix Point Never. Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson also contributes, along with Squarepusher, Mira Calix and Hauschka.
Check out Fennesz's version.
