- Yu Su's collaborative project with Scott Gailey is back next month.
Vancouver label Isla has announced its next two releases.
The tape imprint launched at the beginning of 2016 with a cassette of archival D. Tiffany tracks, and since then it's put out music from Usd, Juniper Systems, Bridge & Tunnel and others. Isla's next release comes from Yu Su and Scott Gailey (as You're Me), who put out the Plant Cell Division album through 1080p earlier this year. The self-titled effort is a mix of ambient and deep techno tracks, that were compiled from a mix of jam sessions and live shows.
At the same time, Isla will put out a tape from its founder Daniel Rincon, AKA NAP (who also previously released an album on 1080p). This one was made with a Tascam 4-Track at Vancouver's Deep Blue, and then mixed down and mastered with help from D. Tiffany at Sweet Pup. It features collaborations with Gailey, You're Me and local artists Aileen Bryant and Dave Pullmer.
You're Me and NAP will head out on a tour of Europe in October together, weaving through Vienna, Frankfurt, London and Glasgow, and also making appearances on Verona's Rocket Radio and London's NTS.
We recently profiled some of the artists and labels contributing to Vancouver's fertile scene. Check out the feature here.
Both Isla records are due in the second week of October, and you can listen to tracks from both of them.
