New Alva Noto album, UNIEQAV, coming soon on Noton

- Alva Noto, AKA Carsten Nicolai, is releasing a new album called UNIEQAV. The 12-track release, due out on March 16th, concludes a trilogy of albums, which began in 2008 with the Unitxt LP. UNIEQAV will be available on vinyl, CD and digital formats, and sees Nicolai exploring more dancefloor-oriented rhythms than his recent output—the series was initially started when he was booked to play at Tokyo club UNIT. He describes the record as a sonic representation of an "underwater dive." You can catch Nicolai taking UNIEQAV to the stage at a series of European dates in March. He'll play at Funkhaus in Berlin on the 1st, Paris' La Gaite Lyrique on the 3rd and The Barbican Hall in London on the 4th. There's also an appearance at Sónar booked in for June 14th. It continues a busy period for the German artist. He announced a new album with regular collaborator Ryuichi Sakamoto in December, while his Noton label is about to release a 2002 recording of a live set featuring himself, Ryoji Ikeda and Mika Vainio.
