- Entitled Skin, the project comments on our increasingly technological world.
Recent Arts, AKA Chilean visual artist Valentina Berthelon and German producer Tobias Freund, will premiere a new audiovisual concert starting in March.
Skin will combine electronic music, lighting design, video projections and vocals, performed live by singer Barbie Williams. For the visuals, Recents Arts has collaborated with a number of dancers and performers, whose improvised body movements were filmed while reacting to Freund's music.
The project conceptually explores the effect of technology on society. "We inhabit a space that is being subjected to a vertiginous increase of technological exchange, of immediacy," the artists say. "We breathe an inexhaustible desire of perfection, avoiding diversification." Through live performance, Skin addressees the urge to "recover the moving body as a vehicle for communication, a tool for expansion."
The music from Skin will also be released as an album on Freund's label, Non Standard Productions. We last saw Recent Arts with their debut A/V project in 2016.
