- The pop, indie and new wave LP is out in December through Cool Mom Records.
Maayan Nidam is reviving an old alias called The Waves.
The Waves has appeared once before, in 2014, as part of a collaborative EP on Wolf + Lamb. The project's latest effort is a solo album, māyā, taken from the Sanskrit word for "illusion" or "deceit." Spanning six tracks of pop, indie and new wave, it's out in December through Nidam's new label, Cool Mom Records. She sings on five of the tracks.
This is the second label in two years from Nidam, who launched Hellium in May 2019 to release "obscure techno and ambient." Read our review of Hellium 002.
