  • Polish festival Unsound has announced a book and double-vinyl album. Intermission is said to be a time capsule documenting the global upheaval that was 2020. It was first conceived as an extension of Unsound's digital edition last year. The book includes 25 written pieces spanning "the pandemic, lockdown, ecology, mental health, conspiracy theories, racism, LGBTQ+ rights, sound, tourism, the precarious state of the music industry, nostalgia, identity and more." It is in English but Unsound have plans to publish a Polish edition later this year. The accompanying album, the first album ever to be released by Unsound, is a 15-track digital and vinyl release. It includes a collaboration between Jlin and SOPHIE, an ancient slavic song and field recordings from Chris Watson and DeForrest Brown Jr. & James Hoff. A track from Polish artist VTSS with Varg2™ features a conversation between an Amazon Echo, Google Home Assistant and an Apple HomePod. Also included is "Weavings," an excerpt from an online, live improvisation curated and mixed by Nicolas Jaar last year. Intermission is dedicated to SOPHIE, who performed at Unsound numerous times.
