  • Block9, one of Glastonbury Festival's most popular dance areas, has revealed its 2022 lineup. The area includes four stages—IICON, Genosys Soundsystem, NYC Downlow and Meat Rack—across two fields: Block9 East and Block9 West. The former, home to IICON, will host the first-ever collaboration with Notting Hill Carnival, which will include a 100-percent green-powered electric carnival float. This year's IICON lineup includes live shows from Shygirl and Overmono, plus DJ sets from LSDXOXO, Joy Orbison, Tash LC, Floorplan, Giant Swan, Steffi and SHERELLE.
Over in Block9 West, Genosys will become Genosys Soundsystem, marking 30 years since Castlemorton and celebrating the role of music in political protest. There will be sets from the likes of OK Williams, Chapter 10 DJs, Sedef Adasi and S.A.S.S, AKA Shanti Celeste, Peach, Moxie and Saoirse. The NYC Downlow, a sweaty, multi-room nightclub, will host Todd Edwards, DJ Paulette, Honey Dijon, Hannah Holland, Prosumer, Virginia and more.
Tucked away at the back of NYC Downlow is the even sweatier Meat Rack, which will be soundtracked by acts like Dungeon Meat, Gina Breeze and Deptford Northern Soul Club. "Pulling together the lineup for 2022 has been great. It's so good to be back," DJ and Block9 cofounder Gideon told Resident Advisor. "It's like reaching out to your extended family after a long and lonely period of being apart. We have not seen so many of our musical comrades all in the same place since the 2019 festival, so this year feels like a family reunion. We are super excited to invite some brand new big name artists into the fold too. I'm assuming they will probably leave as new members of the Block9 family."
This year Glastonbury will begin on June 23rd and run until June 26th. The headliners are Billie Eilish, Paul McCartney and Kendrick Lamar, with artists like Róisín Murphy, Four Tet and Bicep also on the bill. The Silver Hayes lineup, which was released on April 22nd, includes Avalon Emerson, Nia Archives, DJ Storm and Tasha. Check out Block9's full lineup and read our story on the 30th anniversary of Castlemorton. The wider Glastonbury lineup can be found in the event listings below.
