- Out via the UK artist's Cease & Desist label in July, the compilation was eight years in the making.
Optimo (Espacio)'s JD Twitch is releasing a new compilation of '80s Japanese music.
Eight years in the making, Polyphonic Cosmos: Sonic Innovations In Japan (1980-1986) features 14 tracks from a fruitful period in Japanese music history, when advances in recording and hardware technology gave producers a new arsenal of tools. The LP includes tracks by composer and saxophonist Yasuaki Shimizu, collective Geinoh Yamashirogumi and Yellow Magic Orchestra's Ryuichi Sakamoto.
"This is a compilation of some of the most original and innovative music out of Japan in the 1980s that I discovered and fell in love with over the course of many visits to DJs there," JD Twitch told Resident Advisor.
Out July 1st, Polyphonic Cosmos will be the second release on JD Twitch's compilation-focussed label, Cease & Desist. The first release was the RA-recommended Join The Future - UK Bleep & Bass 1988-91 in 2020.
