Berlin radio station Refuge Worldwide is embarking on an 11-date European tour.
Between October 1st and December 9th, the team will host parties and DJ workshops supported by the Danish audio design company AIAIAI. The tour will begin and end in Berlin, with stops in between in Amsterdam, Helsinki, Turin, London, Prague, Leuven, Rotterdam, Kaunas and Warsaw.
The opening Berlin show will take place at OHM as part of the station's Regenerate Weekender. The finale will go down at Panorama Bar.
Participating artists include Mark Ernestus, THC, Bradley Zero, Yen Sung, Charisse C, PLO Man, Konduku, Shannen SP, Roska, DJ Fart In The Club, Stella Zekri and Laura BCR, plus station residents such as Sarah Farina, CCL, Gramrcy, ophélie, Sally C, O.N.A, YUI and cofounders No Plastic and Richard Akingbehin.
The DJ workshops will take place at the venues before each event, with one of the night's DJs giving a tutorial. Participants will also have the chance to practice on a club setup for the first time. The workshops are part of Refuge Worldwide and AIAIAI's ongoing efforts to remove barriers to entry for up-and-coming DJs, continuing the work they've done on the Zaatari Radio workshops in Amman and AIAIAI's bi-monthly Freedom To Create talk show.
Among the European tour's collaborators are Laura BCR's On Board Music in Rotterdam, Gravity Network in Prague and Black Artist Database (AKA B.A.D.), which co-curated the London party.
Launched in January 2021, Refuge Worldwide broadcasts round the clock from Oona Bar in Neukölln. There's live programming from Tuesday through Saturday.
