Leeds tech house star Paul Woolford unwraps his second album The Truth next month.
Woolford's smash 'Erotic Discourse' perfectly captured "minimal" going mainstream in late 2005 but his latest full-lengther under his Bobby Peru guise has little to do with trends. The album promises to reflect a personal journey of discovery by the adopted Woolford—it turns out he recently found out his real mother makes a living as an Annie Lennox impersonator, while his dad is a jazz drummer who has toured with Squarepusher no less. "It was almost like the jigsaw pieces of your musical identity falling back into place," says Woolford, who's been messing with instruments since he was a kid.
From electronica and dance punk to classical and deep house, on The Truth Woolford wears his musical influences on his sleeve. The album includes forthcoming singles 'Emotional Violence' and 'Radioactive' as well as a Green Velvet mix of 'Erotic Discourse'.
