James Murphy, Matthew Dear and more play PS1 in New York this summer.
Long Island City's most celebrated modern art space, P.S.1, has announced the line-up for its Warm Up series of parties.
Playing in the outdoor space in front of the museum throughout the summer will be the likes of James Murphy, Matthew Dear, Metro Area, Mungolian Jet Set and many more. It wouldn't be a party at a modern art museum without a little bit of headiness, however. Other promised guests include So Percussion performing compositions by minimalist composer Steve Reich (July 5), early drone experimenter Tony Conrad (August 16) and Ikue Mori, the noted Japanese drummer who got her start in the no wave band DNA (July 26). The weekly party convenes each Saturday from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM and, in many cases, leads directly into The Beach Party at Water Taxi Beach, which is just one subway stop away.
Get your black-rimmed glasses ready: art—and dancing—begin on July 5.
