- Daniele Antezza keeps it heavy on his latest release as Inner8, Tetramorph, which also kicks off his new label, Holotone. Another set of esoteric rhythms from the Berlin-based producer and Dadub member, the EP, four widely varying tracks, is even more intense than usual. The halftime drum & bass hybrid "Self Determination" samples what sounds like a dancehall MC, his indecipherable intonations kept low in the mix amid shifting cycles of syncopated drums. "Iteration" is a bruising but comparatively aimless march across a landscape mangled with distortion.
On Tetramorph's more compelling flipside, "Consolidation" assembles groups of thumping percussion into a multi-layered rush at 150 BPM. It strikes a nifty balance between high-octane fury and low-slung groove. "Aufhebung," an intriguingly melancholy collaboration with Bangkok-based artist Koichi Shimizu, lets in some welcome light, albeit through a storm of rumbling bass and deep-fried electronic noise. It's the best of the bunch on Antezza's adventurous EP, which is promising given that Shimizu is behind Holotone's next release.
