Lee Neilson feat. Cressida - Breathe

  • After some quality reworking on the Coldtap label, Lee Neilson is called in to provide the first release for a new sub label of Coldtap, Hype Recordings. This release, Breathe, also features the vocals of Cressida, and it is armed with 3 mixes to cater for all moods! The Original Vocal Mix is first up, and it begins with some nicely produced tribal drums, and soon enough, the vocals of Cressida make their presence felt. It is quite a moody first few minutes, with great atmosphere built in the first few minutes thanks to the vocal talents and also due to some great breakdowns with smooth string patterns. A nice building production, with a nice cheeky hook as well. Following this is the Ambient Mix, which is a nice journey of brilliant sweeping effects that combine delightfully with the vocal. Solid piano lines, deep baselines, and a brilliant result without the use of a single beat. The Dub on the flip gets a little more down and dirty, and the baselines come out to play. This is quite simply a devastating version, with only snippets of the vocal featuring, and they are brilliantly placed adding great character to this chunky production. Definitely the highlight of this release. A great release here from Hype, and a solid way to kick start a label. Delightful tribal rhythms, meet soothing ambience, meet deep down and dirty baselines all in one release. You know what to do
